.Within this June 26, 2023, image extracted from the International Space Station, sunlight shines off the smooth waters of the Alabama Stream in a phenomenon referred to as sunglint. When photographing Planet, astronauts commonly take advantage of sunglint's tendency to enhance the comparison in between water areas and concerning property areas. In the 1960s, the Alabama Stream was slowed, making Dannelly Tank (the huge polishing area at facility left). Development of the dam also raised water table upriver. This resulted in flooding at a number of factors along the waterway. These disaster area are normal of floodplains-- the poor, level areas right away next to bigger waterways. Within this photo, disaster area seem like rough, brilliant shapes prolonging away from the river, like at Gee's Bend (facility base).Text Debt: Justin Wilkinson.Photo Credit: NASA/Woody Hoburg.
